The Prime Minister mentioned Sagar Mule from Goa during the 84th edition of the Mann Ki Baat radio show, saying that he was active in preserving the centuries-old Kaavi form.
PM Modi explained to his audience that the Kaavi style of painting was introduced by the Portuguese, who controlled Goa from 1961 to 1961. However, he claims that as time passes, people have forgotten the importance of painting, and the art form is on the danger of extinction.
PM Modi praised Sagar Mule ji for his efforts to preserve the art form while also giving it a new lease on life. He also asked citizens to make tiny steps to preserve the country’s ancient arts.
“His initiatives have also received a lot of praise. Friends, a tiny effort, even a small step, can go a long way toward preserving our rich cultural heritage. “The urge to embellish, beautify, and safeguard our old arts across the country can take the form of a popular movement if the people of our country are committed,” he stated during the Mann Ki Baat address.
