KOLKATA: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Saturday described the BJP’s rise to power in West Bengal as the fulfilment of the long-cherished vision of Syama Prasad Mukherjee.
Speaking after Suvendu Adhikari was sworn in as Chief Minister, Sawant said Prime Minister Narendra Modi had succeeded in realising Mukherjee’s dream by leading the BJP to its first-ever government in Bengal.
The Goa Chief Minister thanked the people of West Bengal for supporting the BJP and congratulated Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah for the landmark victory.
Sawant said the newly formed BJP administration would function as a “double-engine government” focused on public welfare and development across the state.
