New Delhi: At an event in Bihar on Thursday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi delivered a powerful message to the global community, switching from Hindi to English to emphasize India’s firm stance on the Pahalgam terror attack that claimed the lives of 26 people, including tourists and civilians, in Jammu and Kashmir.
Speaking from Madhubani, PM Modi declared, “From the soil of Bihar, I am telling the world that India will identify and punish every terrorist, and those behind them.” His words came just 48 hours after the attack in Pahalgam, which is believed to have been carried out with the support of the Pakistan military establishment.
“We will pursue them to the ends of the world,” he continued. “India’s spirit will never be broken. Terrorism will not go unpunished. Every effort will be made to ensure justice is done. The entire nation is firm in this resolve, and everyone who believes in humanity is with us.”
The shift to English marked a significant moment, underlining India’s resolve to stand firm against terrorism and making sure the message was heard worldwide. By using English, the Prime Minister reinforced that India would not let the brutal attack go unaddressed and would hold terrorists and their sponsors accountable.
The Prime Minister’s remarks were clear and unwavering: “These terrorists and those who conspired towards this attack will get a punishment bigger than they can imagine.” This statement has been interpreted as a warning to the terrorists, signaling that they are on notice.
Additionally, PM Modi expressed gratitude to countries that have condemned the attack, including the European Union, the United States, Israel, Russia, and China, acknowledging the global solidarity in the face of this tragedy.
In the aftermath of the attack, India has already started taking significant actions in response. These measures include the suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty, a key water-sharing agreement with Pakistan that has been in place for over 65 years, and crucial to Pakistan’s economy.
The Prime Minister, who was in Saudi Arabia when the attack occurred, immediately returned to India, bypassing Pakistani airspace. He chaired multiple security meetings to assess the situation in Jammu and Kashmir and to plan India’s next steps, which could potentially include military action.
Earlier, in a post on X, PM Modi had vowed to take decisive action against the perpetrators, saying, “Those behind this heinous act will not be spared… their evil agenda will never succeed. Our resolve to fight terrorism is unshakeable.”
The Resistance Front (TRF), a shadow group linked to the banned Pakistan-based terror organization Lashkar-e-Taiba, claimed responsibility for the attack. The operatives are believed to have crossed into Kashmir from Kishtwar and made their way to Baisaran through Kokernag, in south Kashmir.
India’s unyielding commitment to fighting terrorism was made abundantly clear, with the Prime Minister’s words marking a call to action, not only for the nation but also for the international community to stand against terror in all its forms.
