MARGAO: Maina Curtorim Police have arrested the accused in connection with the alleged sexual assault of an 85-year-old woman from Nuvem, nearly ten days after the incident was reported.
The accused, identified as Stanley Coutinho, had been booked under Sections 332(b), 64(1), 74 and 76 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) following the alleged offence reported on July 8, 2026.
Police said the accused was apprehended after sustained efforts by the investigating team and has been taken into police custody for further investigation.
The investigation into the case is ongoing, and police are continuing to probe the circumstances surrounding the incident.
