MAPUSA: In a shocking incident, Suraj Shelendra, a resident of Girim, Bardez, and an Indian Reserve Battalion (IRB) police constable, has been booked by Mapusa police for allegedly stalking a woman and threatening her husband. The incident has resulted in the filing of two First Information Reports (FIRs) against him.
According to sources, the incident unfolded when Suraj Shelendra allegedly began stalking a lady, whose identity has not been disclosed to protect her privacy. The victim’s husband was reportedly also threatened by the constable, leading to fears of dire consequences.
The Mapusa police have taken swift action in this matter, registering FIRs under multiple sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). Suraj Shelendra has been charged under Section 504 (Intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace), Section 354D (Stalking), Section 509 (Word, gesture, or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman), and Section 506(2) investigation (Criminal intimidation) of the IPC.
The legal proceedings against Suraj Shelendra are expected to continue as the case progresses through the judicial system. The police have not yet disclosed further details about the ongoing investigation.
