PANAJI: Goa Police after 1.5 months have finally arrested accused for murdering Chandrakant Bandekar from Sakral-Pernem whose body was found in forest area of Mopa village with multiple stab injuries.
A case of murder was registered against a unknown person at Pernem Police station by and investigation was taken up.
It was found during investigation that the case was completely blind and only clue was that of a CCTV footage showing that the deceased was giving lift on his Activa to an unknown, unidentified person.
Several teams were found to scour through the area for clues as also collect CCTV footages and carry out questioning of suspicious persons.
After intensive analysis of technical and
human intelligence, a suspect was traced in Amrawati, Maharashtra. Immediately an interstate operation was initiated by the joint teams of North Goa and Crime Branch led by PIs Rahul Parab and Lakshy Amonkar.
Finally, on conclusion of a 48 hour long interstate operation, the main accused identified as Jaypuri Gosai was apprehended in Ahmedabad, Gujarat.
Upon interrogation the accused Jaypuri Gosai revealed that he had come to Goa in June 2021. When he ran out of money, he decided to return to Ahmedabad and while on his way back, he had asked for a lift from the deceased near Patradevi. Upon seeing his gold chain, he was tempted to rob it and in order to rob it he stabbed the accused and fled with his valuables.
