PONDA: The Ponda Locals, including activists, have urged the PWD Minister Nilesh Cabral, CM Pramod Sawant, and Minister Ravi Naik to set up additional water storage tanks for Ponda City locals.
He said the water tank is located at Saint Merry Highschool, but they are presently facing a water crisis as there is a limited water supply and no pressure to tap water.
The locals residing high in the building face difficulty getting water and have informed PWD AE at Daag Ponda.
He said there has been an acute water crisis for the past three days.
He said currently, water bodies and dams are dried up in Goa. He said after the Mhaisal dam level reached the ground, the Shiroda and Panchawadi locals also faced a water crisis.
It is learnt that they are supplied water from OPA.
Viraj Sapre said the water from OPA directly reaches a water tank near Saint Merry Highschool and is then supplied to various parts of Ponda City.
He said water from this tank also supplied water to Panchawadi and Shiroda.
He said after a dam at Panchawadi fell dry, OPA water was diverted from Shiroda, Panchawadi, causing a water shortage at Ponda.
He said politicians in Ponda are busy in politics while people suffer due to water shortage.
He said four years back new water tank was proposed at Ponda; even sweets were distributed, but after that nothing happened.
