PONDA: The residents of Old Housing Board Colony at Curti Khandepar complained that their residential building poses a risk of overflowing gutters and may collapse due to accumulated rainwater.
They demanded that Curti Khandepar Panchayat widen the gutter to drain the rainwater smoothly as the existing gutter fells short and narrow to drain rainwater.
Social worker Sherli Dias and locals addressing the media said they faced hardship for two years.
Even if there is no rain, the gutter is overflowing due to spring water generated in the rainy season.
She said rainwater flows from hills and the Amigoes area; therefore, the gutter size needs to be higher.
The citizens face great hardship as building premises are flooded in heavy rain.
Further, the road dug recently for power cabling also dumped mud into the gutter.
In some places, rainwater is flowing above the gutters, causing floods in the colony’s building premises and on roads making the movement of people residing in the area difficult.
