PONDA: Ponda is leading in the State in case of fatal accidents, and thus people want to clear the black spots on Belagaum Ponda Panjim and Ponda Margao roads. The one GVM circle intersects both NH roads and needs proper security and safety measures besides improving the dangerous GVM Circle.
Bhoma to Kundaim –Manaswada Junction is accident-prone and has claimed many’s lives.
This junction is on the slope, and while negotiating it, heavy vehicles often lose control and hit oncoming or parked vehicles like passenger buses or pedestrians on the road claiming their life.
Several fatal accidents occurred on this road, and Kundaim locals continuously demanded road improvisation at this spot.
Another dangerous junction is at GVM Circle, where it becomes difficult for heavy vehicles to negotiate the big circle inviting fatal accidents.
Besides junctions, sharp turns exist at Farmagudi to Connem—Mardol road and claimed several accidents on this narrow road.
None would forget three electric linemen were killed a few years ago after a truck carrying electric poles overturned at Borim Circle. Earlier also, several fatal occurred while negotiating this circle and need improvement.
It may be recalled that in August this year, in a horrific fatal accident between a container truck and a car near Sanjivani Sugar Factory Dharbandora, 18-year-old Yash Mahanad Naik, car occupant from Shiroda died on the spot while two other car occupants were seriously injured after container truck which dashed the car later fell on the car leading to a fatal accident.
