PONDA: Finally, after suffering for five years on pothole-ridden, the hot-mixing of the roads in Ponda has begun.
Pondaitees heaved a huge sigh of relief as they almost suffered and faced hardship riding on pothole-ridden bumpy roads facing dust pollution.
The roads were dug due to work on laying sewerage lines and manholes for 15 MLD sewerage treatment projects for Ponda City.
The hot mix carpeting of road today began from the post office to Dhavlim, Varkhandem and would be completed in next few days in City, said Municipal sources.
Locals recalled how they faced several health hazards, including backache and neck problems, and complained of accidents and spondylolysis problems on the road digging every year to lay sewerage networks and manholes.
Since it was development work, Pondaitees bore a lot with inconvenience, especially in rainy when roads were turning bad to worst.
However, they have been unhappy for the past two years as there was no sign of completing work in Ponda City. The Pondaitess were desperately demanding authorities to complete work, following which PWD Minister Deepak Pauskar held a meeting several months back with former MLA Ravi Naik, PWD and Sewerage Officials and assured to complete sewerage work by May 2021 but it could be completed.
The locals were complaining and panicked about travelling on bumpy roads.
The Ponda Sewerage Officials say around 95 per cent of the sewerage Network is completed, and just 5 per cent pending at Daag Ponda as basalt rock formation is found underground in the ways of sewerage network lines.
