VASCO: Preparations for the annual Shri Damodar Bhajani Saptah (Bazarkar) officially commenced on Monday with traditional prayers at the Shri Damodar Temple in Vasco.
As part of the customary ritual, Festival Committee President Bharat Kolgaonkar, accompanied by Mormugao MLA Sankalp Amonkar, placed the festival receipt book at the holy feet of Lord Shri Damodar, seeking blessings for the smooth and successful conduct of this year’s Bhajani Saptah. Members of the festival committee also participated in the prayers, marking the formal beginning of preparations.
The Shri Damodar Bhajani Saptah is one of Vasco’s most revered religious traditions, attracting large numbers of devotees every year. The committee has begun planning the week-long spiritual programme and making necessary arrangements to ensure the celebrations are conducted in a peaceful and devotional atmosphere.
Speaking on the occasion, MLA Sankalp Amonkar said he was honoured to participate in the prayers and sought the blessings of Lord Shri Damodar for the good health, happiness and prosperity of all devotees. He also wished the organising committee success and expressed confidence that the festival would continue to strengthen the spirit of devotion and unity among the people.
Festival Committee Secretary Suresh Naik informed members that the customary visit to Shri Damodar Temple at Zambaulim will be held on Thursday as part of the traditional rituals preceding the Saptah. He requested committee members and devotees to assemble on time, adding that the bus will depart at 3 pm for Zambaulim, where a ceremonial coconut will be offered before the commencement of the Bhajani Saptah.
The committee appealed to devotees and well-wishers to actively participate in the upcoming celebrations and continue supporting the long-standing tradition of faith and devotion associated with the Shri Damodar Bhajani Saptah.
