PORVORIM: Power Minister Sudin Dhavalikar today informed that government will hike the electricity tariff by 5 to 10 paisa per unit across all categories.
“The state government will hike power tariff by 5 to 10 paisa per unit across all categories; The hike that was declared about six months ago would be implemented now to raise revenue so that pending power projects could be initiated,” said Dhavalikar.
He further said that his department will not be able to continue the pending underground cabling work across the state if we do not implement the hike.
Dhavalikar further said that the Rs 5,000-crore project of underground cabling.
“I will see that each and every government house runs on solar energy,” he added.
One megawatt solar power plant will be installed at the premises of Goa Engineering College (GEC), Farmagudi.
This solar panel plant will also help to light up the houses in case of power failures in the surrounding localities near GEC.
He said, “The State government is planning for underground cabling in the next five-year period at around Rs 5,000 crore with new power sub-stations, which are needed at Verna, Sancoale and Ponda.”
