SHIRODA: WRD Minister Subhash Shirodkar today said that PRAWAH will act and work in earnest and that the Goa government has already given its say in the Supreme Court.
“PRAWAH will act & work in right earnest; we have given our say in Supreme Court. PRAWAH has been set up to sort out interstate issues. We have to see their process. They have already inspected, we will have to wait and watch their process of work,” said Shirodkar
He further said no update from the PRAWAH Committee as yet and the House Committee on Mhadei will meet after Ganesh Chaturthi.
“We should not worry about river Mhadei, we are on a strong basis to save Mhadei, and we are very serious about it,” he added.
Shirodkar also said that we live in a democratic country and we are doing all legal things to save Mhadei, we succeeded in getting Mhadei Prawah to visit at the right time.
The central government constituted the Progressive River Authority for Water and Harmony (PRAWAH) last year to enable the compliance and implementation of the award and decisions of the Mahadayi Water Disputes Tribunal.
Goa and Karnataka are locked in a dispute over the diversion of the river water. Goa has filed a petition before the Supreme Court challenging the order of an inter-state water dispute tribunal for sharing the river water.
