“Ana Fonte Garden is one of the dream projects of Margao which became reality with the strong support of then Chief Minister Pratapsingh Rane who stalled the attempts to construct a muliti storeyed buidling. This iconic touristic place & recreational centre has remained negelected since 2012. I urge the government to take immediate steps to refurbish the same,” stated Leader of Opposition Digambar Kamat.
Kamat visited the Ana Fonte Garden with Pee Lee Ete, – DCF South (Social Forestry Parks & Gardens), Dnyaneshwar Kudalkar – ACF, Eusebio Braganza – RFO, Sandeep Gawade – FG, Sagun Naik – Local Councillor, Adv. Madhav Bandodkar, Convenor and Siddhant Kanekar, Social Worker to conduct inspection of the dilapidated areas in the garden.
” I have told the Forest Department Officials to ensure that the old glory of this garden is restored. Repairs & Re-commissioning of Musical Fountains, Cleaning work of the Spring Water, Trimming of Grass and Trees, Repair of Stage and Changing Rooms and overall maintainance of the garden needs to be taken up on priority,” said Kamat.
He said the first musical fountain was installed at the Ana Fonte Garden in Goa.
“This Garden has an ideal location which provides security to the visitors. We had a Committee under Adv. Madhav Bandodkar which voluantarily managed the garden. Unfortunately, after 2012 the government in power stopped providing support and assistance to their team which resulted in todays condition of the garden,’ Digambar Kamat said.
He said these projects provide recreational facility to the people and specially children. Governments in power should not bring politics in maintainance of such projects.
“I hope better sense will prevail and action will be initiated,” he said.
