The All Goa Private bus owners association has demanded that the State government immediately waive off one year passenger tax and road tax for their buses or face agitation from the bus owners.
The association secretary Sudip Tamankar told reporters that they have written to Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant as the appeals to the Director of Transport have gone unheard.
Tamankar said that the government must immediately release the insurance subsidy, which is pending since 2017 and fuel subsidy, which is pending from 2018.
He also demanded that the Fuel subsidy scheme be renewed immediately.
Also, he added, the Kadamba buses started during lockdown at several routes be stopped as the timings are clashing with private buses now.
“The CM must immediately waive off one year passenger tax and road tax as they did for the auto dealers on just one letter,” he said.
Tamankar said that the 1460 buses are operating all over Goa and 20000 people are dependent on this business and struggling due to financial crisis.
“The lockdown has hit the livelihood badly yet government is doing nothing,” he said.
He warned that If the government does not come out with economic revival plan or we will have to come out with agitation.
