Panaji: Minister Babush Monserrate on Tuesday said that authorities are treating the recent incident involving a large number of dead fish with seriousness, with an investigation currently underway.
He said the Mayor has convened a meeting with the Water Resources Department (WRD) and other concerned agencies to ascertain the cause of the incident.
Monserrate said preliminary observations indicate possible sewage discharge and technical factors related to water flow and tidal patterns, though a detailed assessment is in progress.
He added that strict action will be taken against any individual or entity found responsible for releasing waste into the water body, and assured that the municipality and concerned departments are actively working to address the issue.
