QUEPEM: The condition of the Quepem-Bali road, near the Municipal square, has become pathetic, and the PWD, which is responsible for the maintenance, has completely ignored the dangerous condition of the road.
The PWD had started the work on road repairs but had shockingly forgotten to complete the work.
As a result, the debris and trenches lay unattended, causing huge traffic issues to commuters.
The road was full of potholes and threatened the two-wheeler riders and pedestrians.
Savio Alfonso, a resident of Quepem, says it is total irresponsibility by the PWD as it has failed to repair the road. The bad condition has also led to traffic congestion, adding that the school students and the commuters are facing difficulties passing through the junction.
Hiraj Malvankar, another local says, said that for the two months now, the work is in progress here, but the department has not shown willingness to complete this work.
“The people of Quepem market area and people coming to Quepem for official works are facing a lot of problems. People don’t know when it will be completed. There are no safety signboards in front of this junction where there is pending work,” he said.
