PANAJI: Goa Health Minister Vishwajit Rane chaired a meeting with doctors and healthcare staff to review and strengthen the state’s cancer care infrastructure and ongoing initiatives for early detection and treatment.
Rane said discussions focused on enhancing chemotherapy and day-care facilities at district hospitals, expanding the Cancer Screening Abhiyan and providing free, AI-powered screening to support early detection of cancer.
He also reviewed the continuation of regular healthcare camps aimed at taking healthcare services to people across all talukas of the state.
Detailed discussions were held on the upcoming State Cancer Hospital, including the facilities to be provided, the roadmap for its development and measures to establish it as a state-of-the-art institution for cancer care in Goa.
Rane said the initiatives were part of the Goa Model of Healthcare, with an emphasis on accessible, technology-driven and citizen-centric healthcare.
He reiterated the government’s focus on early detection, timely treatment and quality healthcare for families across Goa, under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of a Viksit Bharat.
Rane said the government remained committed to strengthening healthcare infrastructure and ensuring that patients have access to quality treatment without delay.
