SALIGAO: Former Minister Dilip Parulekar today stated that he was ready to contest Lok Sabha elections if a ticket was offered to him.
“I am ready to contest Lok Sabha elections if a ticket is being offered to me. If Shripad Naik is not been given a ticket, I demand with party to give the same to me,” said Parulekar.
He further said that demanding a Lok Sabha ticket is not a crime and if the party is not giving a ticket to Shripad, then it should be given to me.
Parulekar who was denied renomination by the party in the last assembly polls had claimed that he has been offered a bigger role in the party organisation.
Sopte had announced that the five-time member of parliament for North Goa ought to now take a vacation from politics, but he was prepared to run for the Lok Sabha seat on the BJP ticket should the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) ask him to.
Sopte stated, “There is a belief among the party members that Bhau (Shripad) ought to take a break after turning 73 years old. The family also feels that our elders should take a break now that they have worked so hard for the family.
The Union Minister Shripad Naik responded sarcastically to Sopte’s remarks, saying, “With Tulsi Vivah, wedding season has commenced and there are many bride grooms who are ready to tie the knot,” while addressing a section of the media.
