OLD GOA: Old Goa Police have registered a cheating case after a 65-year-old retired woman allegedly lost ₹3.60 lakh in a solar panel installation deal.
According to the complaint filed by Amalina Vaz of Mollar, Old Goa, the alleged transaction took place between March 23 and April 8, 2026. Police said the accused, Prashant Naik of Pernem, proprietor of Sai Sun Solar System, allegedly induced the complainant to pay ₹3,60,000 on the assurance of installing a solar panel system at her residence.
However, the solar panel was allegedly not installed and the amount was also not refunded, resulting in an alleged financial loss of ₹3.60 lakh to the complainant.
Old Goa Police registered the offence on August 25, 2026, at 9.01 pm under Section 318(4) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023, pertaining to cheating.
Further investigation is being conducted by PSI Saiesh Bhonsle of Old Goa Police Station.
