MAPUSA: Mapusa Sub Division booked M. V. cases and collected fines of Rs. 16 lakhs for February till now and issued 300 notices for traffic violations through the photography initiative.
In action against traffic rule violation, Mapusa Sub Division has started the aggressive mission of challaning the traffic violators.
SDPO Mapusa Jivba Dalvi informed that Anjuna Police Station has booked 1116 cases and an amount of Rs. 6,44,000/- was collected, Mapusa Police Station has booked 951 cases and an amount of Rs. 4,82,000/- was collected and Colvale Police Station has booked 756 cases and amount of Rs. 4,77,500/- was collected.
The total fine collected is Rs. 16,03,500/- for the month of February 2023 and till 07.03.2023.
In the photography initiative, initiated by Mapusa Sub Division, Anjuna Police Station has issued 80 notices to traffic violators, Mapusa Police Station has issued 70 notices to traffic violators and Colvale Police Station has issued 70 notices to traffic violators, thus generating fear in the mind of the public that Police in Civil uniform are clicking their pictures and issuing notices for traffic violators, thereby eliminating the chances of a traffic violation.
As per SDPO Mapusa Dalvi although violations have been reduced there are still riders riding without helmets mostly and hence the challaning is continued with full force.
