RUMDAMOL: Following a deadly attack on Rumdamol Village Panchayat Panch member Vinayak Volvoikar, the Goa Police has granted him armed protection.
An unknown man wearing a mask and armed with deadly weapons made a brazen attempt to murder a ward member of the Rumdamol-Davorlim village panchayat.
Based on the complaint lodged by Vinayak Volvoikar, 31, a resident of Ward Number 3 of the panchayat, the police have registered a case under IPC Sections 427 and 307.
The incident occurred on the road leading to Swami Samarth Mandir in Rumdamol-Davorlim. The complainant was seated in his car when an unidentified individual, masked and with their face covered, approached the vehicle.
The assailant proceeded to break the driver’s side window glass using a metal plate and then attacked the complainant with a sharp knife, which struck the car seat and became lodged in it. The assailant swiftly fled the scene.
The motive behind the attack remains unknown at this stage, and the investigation is ongoing. However, the knife used in the crime has yet to be recovered.
