VASCO: GOACAN has expressed safety concerns about the RVNL Warning to Road Users on the overhead Traction line of the Vasco-da-Gama section of SWR becoming “LIVE” from 23rd March 2022.
In a letter to Dattaraj Gauns Dessai Deputy Collector & SDM Mormugao, GOACAN has pointed out that in the “Public Notification” and “Warning to Road Users” issued by the Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL) it is stated that the Vasco-da-Gama Section of the Railway lines of the South Western Railway (SWR) the 25,000 Volt 50 Hz AC Overhead Traction wires will be energised on 23rd March 2022 or after this date and the Overhead Traction line shall be treated as LIVE”. The Warning to Road Users states that height restrictions must be maintained, and there is a danger of a load of excessive height etc.
GOACAN is of the opinion that the contents of these Public Notifications involve the safety of persons using the Railway lines, Road Users, and Tourist vehicle owners, among others, to avoid accidents that could cause loss of life & limb.
Accordingly, these details and safety guidelines need to be disseminated to Village Panchayats in Mormugao Taluka, Mormugao Municipal Council, Educational Institutions, the departments like PWD, WRD, Electricity, Transport and Traffic Police, among others.
GOACAN, therefore in the interests of Public Safety and Disaster Management, has requested the SDM Mormugao to verify if copies of the above mentioned Public Notice & Warning to Road Users have been sent to all the agencies mentioned above and that the appropriate Safety Signage has been installed as required.
Copies of the GOACAN letter have been sent to the Chief Secretary, Transport Secretary, South Goa Collector & District Magistrate (South Goa), Transport Director, PWD Principal Chief Engineer, WRD Chief Engineer, Chief Electrical Engineer, SP (South) & DySp Traffic (South), Addl. Director of Transport (South) and Director of Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs.
“Warning to Road Users” issued by the Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL) it is stated that the Vasco-da-Gama Section of the Railway lines of the South Western Railway (SWR) the 25,000 Volt 50 Hz AC Overhead Traction wires will be energised on 23rd March 2022 or after this date and the Overhead Traction line shall be treated as “LIVE”.
