VASCO: Newly elected Vasco MLA Krishna (Daji) Salkar visited Vasco fish market vendors and assured them of a new fully loaded fish market complex in the coming days.
On Tuesday morning, Vasco MLA Salkar and his wife and councillor Shami Salkar, Deepak Naik, Girish Borkar and his supporters visited the Vasco fish market and met local fish vendors to know their issues.
During this visit, Salkar and his supporters and fish vendors offered prayer before a religious alter located in the market. Later he interacted with the fish vendors and assured them of full cooperation in building a new fish market complex.
Speaking to the media later, Salkar said that the new fish market project had hit a roadblock due to some reasons, but since he has been elected as an MLA, he will make sure that all fish vendors are taken into confidence with regards to the new fish market complex project, and soon this project will start which will have good facilities.
A fish vendor, Vaishali Pednekar, said that their demand is to clear the wholesale fish vendors outlets and migrant fish vendors from the municipal area and ensure good business to the fish vendors from the fish market. She also expressed confidence that their new MLA, Salkar, will fulfil these demands.
Meanwhile, councillor Deepak Naik also informed that he will discuss this matter of wholesalers and migrants selling fish outside the fish market with the Chief Officer, and appropriate action will be taken by the Mormugao municipality.
