SANGUEM: Sanguem Police have registered a cheating case after a resident of Tarimol was allegedly duped of ₹1.51 lakh in a fake travel package scam promising an Andaman tour.
According to police, the complaint was filed by Felix Furtado of Tarimol, Sanguem. The complainant stated that on May 2, 2026, he was contacted through WhatsApp by an unknown person claiming to represent “Big Goal Travel Agency” and offering an Andaman tour package.
Believing the offer to be genuine, Furtado transferred a total of ₹1,51,000 on different occasions as demanded by the suspected travel agent for booking and related tour expenses.
The complainant was scheduled to leave for the tour on May 17, 2026. However, on May 16, the suspected person allegedly stopped responding to calls and messages. Subsequent inquiries revealed that the tour booking was fraudulent and that he had been cheated.
Sanguem Police have registered an offence against the unknown accused and launched an investigation into the online travel fraud. Further investigation is being carried out by PSI Pradhyumna Keny of Sanguem Police Station.
