Sanvordem: Truck owners in Sanvordem have renewed calls for government support as iron ore transportation prepares to resume in the region. At a meeting of the Sanvordem Truck Owners Association held locally, members discussed the upcoming movement of ore by Fomento Resources from Kudegali to Sanvordem Junction.
The association said its members are ready to restart operations immediately, noting that many trucks have remained off the road for nearly 15 years following the prolonged suspension of mining activity in Goa.
Association president Valab Dalvi appealed to Chief Minister Pramod Sawant to introduce a one-time waiver on pending fitness renewal charges. He pointed out that with only one mine currently operational, truck owners are struggling to clear accumulated dues.
Dalvi stressed that such relief would be crucial to reviving the local transport sector and restoring livelihoods dependent on mining-linked activity.
