MAPUSA: Deputy Speaker and Mapusa MLA Joshua D’Souza revealed that the Art and Culture department and the Cunchelim community have exchanged letters over the Ravindra Bhavan project and that the State government is anticipated to make a decision on the important project as soon as possible.
D’Souza added that the desilting of the Mapusa River is anticipated to begin within the following two months.
“One of the requirements set forward by the Cunchelim Comunidade is office space. The community and the department of art and culture are now in negotiations. The government should have no trouble providing them with office space, in my opinion. In the next month or so, we anticipate a ruling on the issue, D’Souza added.
The need for an office space is reasonable, according to Mapusa MLA, given that the Cunchelim comunidade is contributing 20,000 square meters of land for the Ravindra Bhavan project.
The Mapusa MLA reported that WRD Minister Subhash Shirodkar has pledged to complete a thorough desilting of the Mapusa River (Tar River) in the next two months, from Green Park all the way up to Moira River.
“Once the monsoon moves on between October and November, we anticipate that the river will undergo full-scale, scientific desilting. This will be a more significant effort that will prevent the river from being desilted twice or three times year, he said.
