Ponda: A man sustained serious injuries in a road accident that took place near the Four-Road Bethora Junction in Ponda on the evening of July 17.
As per a state complaint filed by Head Constable Vinod Naik (HC 5620) of Ponda Police Station, the incident occurred at around 5:33 p.m. The accused, identified as Manjunath Basappa Jodalli, a resident of Dharwad, Karnataka, was driving a truck when he allegedly entered the main road from an internal road without taking proper care or showing any indication.
In doing so, he collided with a Jupiter scooter approaching on the main road. The scooter rider, Nitin Gokuldas Gaonkar, fell on the road and suffered grievous injuries due to the impact. He was immediately shifted to Goa Medical College, Bambolim, for further treatment.
The case has been registered as a Motor Vehicle accident, and further investigation is being conducted by HC Vinod Naik of Ponda Police Station.
