PANAJI: The Bombay High Court at Goa today pulled up the Crime Branch of Goa Police for failing to register an FIR into the alleged sex scandal matter involving former Minister Milind Naik.
Police had declined to file FIR against former Urban Development Minister Milind Naik in the alleged sex scandal complaint filed by then Congress leader and now BJP MLA Sankalp Amonkar. Amonkar had then approached High Court for necessary directions.
High Court, while hearing the matter, questioned the Crime Branch’s inaction to file FIR and directed them to submit the final report during the next hearing scheduled on March 13.
The crime branch told Court that it would file a final report in the case within four weeks before the appropriate court.
A letter from the Women’s Police Station to Congress leader Sankalp Amonkar stated why the case was dropped.
“Victim (survivor) has given written application rebutting contents of complaint & so any cognizable offence is made out.” Amonkar had filed a complaint against Naik for being involved in a ‘sex scandal’.
The allegation against Naik was also made by the Goa Congress Chief Girish Chodankar, who had alleged that the ruling party Bharatiya Janata Party’s leader was involved in a sex scandal, but since the government did not take action, he revealed the leader’s name.
