CANACONA: Shamba Naik Desai won the second term to preside over the Managing Committee of Centro Promotor De Instrucao (CPI), a Centurion Educational Board running Higher Secondary, High-School and Primary and Pre-Primary schools in Canacona.
Shamba (who is also GCA Vice-President), a businessman by profession, after a successful first-term stint, contesting for a second term defeated Prataprao Naik Gaunkar, a Mamlatdar in Goa Government by garnering around 50% more votes.
Shamba Naik Desai, who is credited with bringing several changes in the two educational institutes of CPI ( Hr. Secondary and High school) including Smart Classrooms and the construction of a Lab-cum-library- Computer Block, polled 151 votes while Prataprao Naigaunkar received 79 votes in the election held for the post of President of the Managing Committee of CPI.
Ram G Desai (130) defeated Pankaj D Naik Gaonkar (96) to win the post of Secretary (CPI – Managing Committee).
Babuso Naik Gaonkar polled 122 votes to defeat Babaji Sawant (a Science Professor in Damodar Hr. Secondary, Margao) received 102 votes, by 20 votes to be president of the General Assembly of Centro Promotor de Instrucao (CPI).
Prasad M Naik Gaoncar (139) defeated Anil D Phaldessai (83) for the post of Secretary (General Assembly).
