MARGAO: Festivals like Shigmo and Carnival, according to Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, not only encourage cultural tourism in Goa but also increase people’s pleasure.
He encouraged people to support cultural tourism by maintaining Goa’s cleanliness and beauty while speaking during Sunday’s grand Shigmo float procession in Margao.
From Pernem to Canacona, people in Goa have displayed the various varieties of Shigmo. He emphasized the importance of promoting cultural tourism, saying, “This demonstrates that Goans have not forgotten their culture and traditions.”
He referred to the march as a manifestation of Nari Shakti, or women’s strength, and emphasized the involvement of Margao’s women.
Prior to this, BJP State President Damu Naik, Margao Municipal Chief Damu Shirodkar, Navelim MLA Ulhas Tuenkar, Margao MLA Digambar Kamat, council members, and others were present when Tourism Minister Rohan Khaunte waved off the float procession.
