* Sunburn can go on till 12 midnight with relaxation on sound for events from Dec 24-31, says Goa Environment Minister

PANAJI: With relaxation on sound for events from December 24-31, the Environment Minister Aleixo Sequeira today said that Sunburn festival can go on till 12 midnight.
“Sunburn can go on till 12 midnight; under the Environment law state has given relaxation on sound for events from Dec 24 to 31 till midnight,” said Sequeira
He further said that whoever is having events during this period can apply to the government seeking permission till 12 midnight.
“This is not something new; I don’t know permission sought by Sunburn,” he added.
Considering the opposition by locals, the Goa Tourism Department has refused to grant permission to ‘Sunburn Music Festival’ on December 31. However, it has issued a provisional approval to organise three-day festival up to December 30.
The Empowered Committee of Tourism Department, headed by Tourism Minister Rohan Khaunte has also refused to grant permission for the music to be played beyond 10 p.m.
“We have given provisional approval to organise Sunburn from December 28 to 30. They should stop taking us for granted. They should not expect that we will dance to their tunes,” Khaunte said, adding Sunburn will be held only for three days.
