The SP, addressing a press conference, said that the Goa Police has arrested Simanchal Parida, 31 years, Odisha; Alok Singh, 19; Nagendra Kumar, 25, both n/o Alwar, Rajasthan and Shahid Khan, 23, n/o Shivaji park, Dadar, Mumbai.
He said the Colva Police have cracked the Betalbatim Murder Case within 24 Hrs.
Giving details of the murder, SP said that the murder was reported at Nagvaddo, Betalbatim, Salcete, Goa wherein the dead body of one Dr. Nirwan Bharat of Betalbatim, who was working in a hospital at Nuvem was recovered by Colva Police under suspicious circumstances.
An offence Vide Colva PS Cr. No. 21/2023 u/ 302 IPC was registered, and the investigation was taken up.
The investigating team from Colva Police Station was formed by SDPO Margao to detect the crime.
The team was led by PI Theron D’costa, consisting of PSI Subhash Gaonkar, PSI Ajit Velip, Head Constable Rohan Naik and others under the overall supervision of SP South.
During the investigation, technical surveillance was mounted, and local intelligence was deployed; input was received that one Simanchal Parida, 31, n/o Ganjam, Odisha, who was working at the rental premises with a doctor as his personal cook, had suspiciously gone missing.
He was traced at Bhilwara Rajasthan in a joint operation with Rajasthan Police while travelling in a red Ford Figo car bearing No. MH14 CC 2985 while trying to flee, along with his other three associates, namely Alok Singh, Nagendra Kumar, and Shahid Khan. They were interrogated at length, wherein they admitted to having committed the heinous crime.
Further investigation is in progress.
