MARGAO: The District Water & Sanitation Mission (DWSM), South Goa, held its fourth monthly meeting under the chairmanship of Additional Collector-II Shri Ramesh Gaonkar, with Member Secretary Shri Narayan S. Tirvenkar also present.
Officials from the Health Department, Forest Department, Information & Technology Department, Directorate of Panchayats, Block Development Offices, Water Resources Department and Agriculture Department participated in the meeting.
A review of the implementation of the Swachh Bharat Mission (Gramin) 2.0 was undertaken, during which the Directorate of Panchayats presented the status of pending works across Village Panchayats. Officials informed that regular follow-up with Panchayats is being carried out to ensure the timely completion of the remaining works.
The meeting also discussed the nomination of two women members for Village Water and Sanitation Committees (VWSCs) under the Jal Jeevan Mission and Swachh Bharat Mission (Gramin). These committees will play a key role in monitoring water quality. The Directorate of Panchayats was directed to submit the final list of members to the concerned departments before the next meeting.
Village Panchayat Secretaries were instructed to convene Gram Sabhas and upload the required information for Jal Seva Aankalan on the Central Government portal within the stipulated timeline.
It was further decided that training programmes on water quality testing would be organised for the nominated women members once the Village Water and Sanitation Committees are constituted.
The meeting concluded with directions to all concerned departments and officials to ensure timely implementation of the decisions taken.
