CANACONA: Canacona MLA and Speaker of the Goa Legislative Assembly, Ramesh Tawadkar, on Friday attended the traditional “Pagir Maar… Nuste Kaad” fishing competition, held as part of the Sagar Kala Manthan – Melava 2025, commemorating 40 years of the Akhil Goa Kshatriya Pagui Samaj (AGKPS). The event, hosted at Rajbhag beach, celebrated Goa’s coastal heritage and rich fishing traditions.
Organized in the presence of AGKPS President Divakar Pagi, Secretary Rudresh Namshikar, Treasurer Sameer Kankonkar, Central Committee Member Ratnakar Dhuri, and several social workers, the event marked the start of a three-day celebration of the community’s foundation day.
Tawadkar lauded the organizers for their efforts in preserving cultural traditions and urged them to continue promoting Goa’s heritage. The celebrations will culminate on Sunday, with Speaker Tawadkar inaugurating the mega function in the morning. Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant, along with Ministers Nilkanth Halarnkar, Govind Gaude, Rohan Khaunte, and MLAs Sankalp Amonkar and Alton D’Costa, as well as CMC Chairperson Sara Naik Desai, are scheduled to attend the closing ceremony.
