PANAJI: In a significant push to strengthen the healthcare infrastructure in the State, Health Minister Vishwajit Rane announced that specialised medical services, including Neurology and Cardiology, will soon be launched at the South Goa District Hospital.
Rane said the initiative is aimed at ensuring that residents of South Goa have access to advanced and essential healthcare services without needing to travel long distances.
“I am committed to enhancing Goa’s healthcare infrastructure. The introduction of Neurology, Cardiology, and other vital departments at the South Goa District Hospital is a step towards delivering justice and quality healthcare to all,” Rane stated.
He added that the move is part of a broader effort to decentralise specialist care and ensure equitable access across the State. The development is expected to benefit thousands of patients in the southern region, reducing the burden on the Goa Medical College and Hospital in Bambolim.
The announcement marks a notable advancement in the State’s public health strategy, with a focus on bringing tertiary care closer to local communities.
