VELSAO: A driver sustained serious injuries after the Maruti van he was driving crashed into a roadside coconut tree near the Velsao–Pale lake area.
The impact of the collision extensively damaged the vehicle, trapping the driver inside the mangled wreckage. The injured driver is suspected to have suffered multiple fractures and head injuries.
Personnel from the Fire and Emergency Services, who were nearby attending another emergency call, rushed to the accident site immediately after noticing the crash. Using specialised rescue equipment, they extricated the trapped driver from the vehicle.
The driver was given preliminary medical assistance at the scene before being shifted to a nearby hospital for further treatment. His condition is reported to be serious.
