TALEIGAO: Agacaim Police have registered a case against a 21-year-old driver from Gujarat for allegedly driving a Hyundai Creta in a rash and negligent manner, resulting in an accident that left two scooter riders injured at Taleigao Plateau.
The case was registered following a complaint filed by Advocate Sudin M. S. Usagaonkar of Caranzalem.
According to police, the accident occurred on June 17 at around 10.30 am at the roundabout opposite the Goa University Library. The accused, identified as Macwan Reeyan Amit Kumar of Vadodara, Gujarat, was driving a Creta car (GJ-06-PS-0084) from Bambolim towards Dona Paula when he allegedly lost control while speeding and rammed into a Jupiter scooter (GA-07-AD-5263) waiting at the circle.
The impact threw the scooter riders off balance before the car crashed into the roundabout wall.
The scooter rider, Naresh Madkaikar, and pillion rider, Sadiq Ahmed Mulla, sustained injuries and were rushed to Goa Medical College, Bambolim, for treatment. Both were later discharged after receiving medical care.
Police have booked the Creta driver for rash and negligent driving, and further investigation is being conducted by Agacaim Police.
