CANACONA: Chandralekha Mestri, a Grade-I Teacher (Biology) at S S Angle Hr. Sec. school in Mashem(Loliem), Canacona is selected from Goa State to receive the National Teachers Award-2024.
Mestri, Msc. Bed is amongst the 50 odd recipients of the prestigious National Teacher Award 2024 that will be honoured at New Delhi on the occasion of Teachers Day (5th Sept) with a Citation (Silver Medal), Certificate and Cash Award.
A Biology teacher at SS Angle Hr.SS is the recipient of Goa State Best Teachers Award-2021 is best known for presenting Science projects at the State and National levels, has cultivated a Botanical Garden in her HSS solely to help her students learn Biology.
Mestri in her 24 years of teaching career was initially a Science Teacher in Nirakar Vidyalaya, Mashem and 10 years later got appointed in Hr. Secondary School of the same Education Society.
Mestri is credited to have won 19 individual awards, and 22 group project awards, including at the national level, and her works ranged from Save Tiger to conservation of Mangroves, Sand-Dunes . Mestri takes prestige in her many rural students taking up the challenges by participation in several national Science Fairs and Seminars.
My school management and my family plays a very crucial role in my teaching profession and making me worthy for this award, as I expend more hours with the students and school, than with my family’ ,
S S Angle Hr S S has enrollments consisting mostly of first-generation learners, many coming from tribal communities and economically disadvantaged sections including students from across neighboring Karwar in Karnataka State.
President of Shree Nirakar Education Society Prashant Naik on Wednesday felicitated the National Teacher Award winning teacher Chandralekha Mestri, alongwith the Principal of S.S. Angle Higher Secondary School Hemant Kamat and teaching and non teaching staff of the school.
