PANAJI: Panaji Police Station has registered a motor vehicle accident case against the driver of the truck that plunged into the under-construction sewage chamber, injuring four labourers.
Police said that an investigation is currently on to ascertain the cause of the accident and who might be at fault.
The driver was transporting the stones for a project by the water resources department when one of the truck’s rear tyres fell into the open pit.
The truck driver attempted to flee from the scene, an official said.
As per information, all four labourers are natives of Agra, Uttar Pradesh and were working inside the STP chamber hole when the tragedy struck.
Two workers have been seriously injured, and one receiving severe head injuries was shifted to the Goa Medical College (GMC) for treatment.
The Smart City officials have been making haphazard attempts to finish the works ahead of G20 meetings in March-April.
