MARGAO: As the Sunburn organizers announced arrival of their electronic dance music festival to South Goa this year, the opposition has begun to brew. The opposition MLAs from South have joined hands along with activists to shift the EDM outside.
The issue is expected to rock the upcoming monsoon session of the State legislative assembly, which is slated to commence from Monday, July 15.
The organisers on Friday announced on its ‘X’ handle that the Sunburn Music Festival will shift to South Goa and will be held from December 28 to 30, calling it ‘the next chapter of Sunburn’
‘Immerse yourself in the ultimate blend of music and surreal underwater experience,’ the message stated.
“It seems that the BJP wants to teach a lesson to the people of South for having taught them a lesson in the recently held Lok Sabha election in South Goa,” stated former MLA Adv Radharao Gracias in response to the news of Sunburn being moved to South Goa. They wish to burden the residents of South District with Sunburn’s trash.
“But the people of South Goa will definitely not accept it,” Adv. Gracias continued. If the event is held, people will undoubtedly get up and head for the streets. We are all at risk of losing our tranquil way of life in South Goa because of this sunburn.
Cleofato Almeida, Adv Says Coutinho, “Naka re, Baba! It is forbidden to get sunburned in South Goa.
“The South still preserves the essence of Goa and must be maintained and conserved for the coming generation,” he declared. The obvious theme of such music is drugs. Music with a repetitive beat inevitably encourages drug use. To stop this nonsense, all MLAs, panchayats, and NGOs need to speak out.
The music played at Sunburn encourages drug use. If the North cannot stand it, then the South cannot have it either. “It is a threat,” Adv. Coutinho continued.
“The Sunburn festival should not take place in South Goa. Our culture is not this festival. It encourages antisocial behavior. South Goa is not suitable for sunburns, according to seasoned social activist Auda Viegas.
Nonetheless, there is already resistance to Sunburn’s relocation to South Goa. According to rumors, Sunburn is moving to South Goa. North Goa has been completely overtaken by drugs, noise pollution, etc. Politicians take money from these people. Each person receives money. We are familiar with sunburn. At the drug overdose festival, people have passed away. It’s shocking that this festival is taking place in Goa, stated Margao activist Jose Maria Miranda, a senior.
“We are opposing it in South Goa because they have already spoiled North Goa with that event,” Velim MLA Cruz Silva stated. In South Goa, we oppose it. We won’t let cars drive through our villages; I’m not sure where it will take place.
Altone D’Costa, a Quepem MLA, declared, “We will not allow it in South Goa, as the Congress party has said.” This is also how I see it. I will be against it if it is within my constituency.
“The organizer and the government are always hand in glove,” stated Yuri Alemao, the leader of the opposition. All that is being destroyed in Goa or the South is this. We will not tolerate this at all. People will object, and I will object as the Opposition’s leader.
MLA Vijai Sardesai of Fatorda stated, “It would be premature to talk.” I will only discuss specifics.
Meanwhile, South Goa locals were instantly incensed upon hearing that the Sunburn EDM festival would be moving from North Goa to South Goa.
