PANAJI: The Foundation Day of various States and Union Territories was celebrated with vibrant cultural performances at the New Durbar Hall of Raj Bhavan, in the presence of Governor P. Ashok Gajapathi Raju.
The event marked the formation day of Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Uttarakhand, Jharkhand, and several other States and Union Territories including Andhra Pradesh, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Chandigarh, Chhattisgarh, Delhi, Haryana, Karnataka, Kerala, Lakshadweep, Madhya Pradesh, Puducherry, Punjab, and Tamil Nadu.
The celebrations featured a colourful showcase of India’s diverse cultural heritage. The traditional Goan dance Samai Nritya was performed by Dada Katamgal Pangad, while other performances included Kuchipudi from Andhra Pradesh, Mohiniattam from Kerala, Bharatanatyam from Tamil Nadu, Yakshagana from Karnataka, and Bhangra from Punjab.
A recorded message from Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Kavindra Gupta, highlighted the importance of the occasion, emphasizing the goal of promoting unity, understanding, and harmony among the people of different regions under the initiative of ‘Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat’.
The event was attended by Director of Art and Culture Vivek Naik, along with members, heads, and representatives of various regional associations and sangams. The programme was compered by Siddhi Upadhya.
