PANAJI: Revolutionary Goans Party (RGP) MLA and National President Viresh Borkar on Friday said the recent organisational decisions were taken under the party constitution to revive and rebuild the organisation ahead of the upcoming elections.
Borkar said he exercised his constitutional powers after several founding members raised concerns over the functioning of the party and sought intervention in organisational affairs.
He said two senior party members have been suspended pending disciplinary proceedings, while all existing block and organisational committees have been dissolved as part of the restructuring process.
Borkar further stated that the suspension of 10 party members, who were earlier removed from the party, has been revoked as the action was allegedly taken without following the provisions of the party constitution. However, the members will face disciplinary proceedings in accordance with the party’s rules.
According to Borkar, the measures are aimed at restoring organisational discipline and rebuilding the party structure ahead of the elections.
He also announced that elections to the party’s executive committees at various levels will be conducted within the next 45 days in accordance with the party constitution.
