PANAJI: Despite the mega opposition to the project, Sterlite Power claimed that it has completed its Goa-Tamnar Transmission Project which will stabilise power delivery and minimise outages in South Goa.
Implemented through its Special Purpose Vehicle, Goa-Tamnar Transmission Project Limited (GTTPL), the project brings Goa’s first 400 kV Gas-Insulated Substation (GIS) to Dharbandora.
The enhanced transmission capacity will also provide a direct feed from the new Dharbandora substation to South Goa, reducing the load on existing substations.
“This project is a crucial step forward in strengthening Goa’s power infrastructure. By addressing key gaps and bringing advanced technology like the GIS substation to the state, we are ensuring a more stable and reliable power supply for the people and businesses of Goa,” Arun Sharma, CEO of Infrastructure Business at Sterlite Power, said.
Sterlite Power stated that by addressing key gaps and bringing advanced technology like the GIS substation to the state, they are ensuring a more stable and reliable power supply for the people and businesses of Goa, which will further boost tourism and add to the economy.
The new infrastructure will ensure no frequent outages as is common in areas such as South Goa, and the new system will also ensure quality power distribution across industries, commercial and residential segments. The increased transmission capacity will also directly connect the new Dharbandora substation to South Goa eliminating additional loading on other substations and making the network immune to chances in voltage to a larger extent.
This is especially important for the business regions of the state and particularly for the tourism and hotel industry troubled by the previous overdependence on costly diesel generators due to constant blackouts.
