Old Goa: A scooter reported stolen from Old Goa in May was found to have been used in a criminal offence at Mopa, leading to the arrest of the accused, police confirmed on Saturday.
The theft complaint, lodged by Mr. Jino Sebastian (46), a private sector employee residing at Akashat Residency near Shau Marketing, Bainguinim, Old Goa, was registered at Old Goa Police Station on July 19, 2025. According to the complaint, his Hero Maestro scooter (Registration No. KL-11-AS-3080), valued at approximately ₹20,000, was stolen between 11:30 p.m. on May 15 and 3:00 a.m. on May 16 from the open parking area of his residential building.
The case was registered under Section 303(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) as Crime No. 103/2025. ASI Anil Desai is the Investigating Officer from Old Goa Police Station.
In a significant development, the stolen scooter was later traced and found to have been used in a separate criminal case registered at Mopa Police Station — Crime No. 39/2025 under Section 304 of the BNS. The accused in the Mopa case has since been arrested.
Old Goa and Mopa police are coordinating their investigation to establish the full chain of events linking the theft and subsequent offence. Further details are awaited as the investigation continues.
