PANJIM: A day after sugarcane farmers commenced their chain hunger strike, Deputy Chief Minister Chandrakant Babu Kavlekar informed that Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant has released the support price amount under Shetkari Adhar Nidhi to sugarcane farmers.
The decision was taken by CM Dr Pramod Sawant in a high level meeting along with Deputy CM Chandrakant Kavlekar and Cooperation Minister Govind Gaude
“Around Rs 5.23 Cr has been released today, and sugarcane farmers will receive Rs 1800 per metric tonnes. The sugarcane farmers will get the money in their accounts by tomorrow.” said Kavlekar speaking to media
“We had promised the farmers that amount will be disbursed before Ganesh Chaturthi and the CM has done it. The remaining amount for harvesting that is Rs 600 will be disbursed soon.” he said
Co-operation Minister Govind Gaude has stated that harvesting money which is hiked from Rs 600 to Rs 1200 will be released to farmers once Government receives payment from Laila factory. Farmers should get the money before Ganesh Chaturthi.
“There are 86 sugarcane farmers whose standing crop is remaining. They should not panic as government will help them”.
