Panaji: The Sunburn event organisers have clarified that the event would be held only if the COVID19 situation is under control.
Percept Live, creators of Sunburn, shared the detailed Covid-19 Protocols for the upcoming 14th Edition of the Sunburn Festival scheduled to be held from 27, 28, 29 December 2020 at Vagator, Goa.
Sunburn’s spokesperson, clarified that the application for the permission itself clarified that the final event will only be held subject to the anticipated Covid19 situation around the time of the event.
In its application dated 17/09/2020 made to the Tourism department government of Goa, and vide its letter date 23/10/2020, Sunburn had clarified that its only seeking permission to prepare for the event and that the final event would be subject to a review in first week of December 2020, when the authorities can better assess the likely Covid 19 situation and take the final call.
“Sunburn cares for its fans, and all the stakeholders. While sunburn believes it’s time to restart lives’ it’s clear that any event can’t be ever done risking anyone’s health and safety. Sunburn has and will always do best to support the state and its tourism economy and will plan and be ready, but only do the event when the authorities believe it’s safe to do so,” they said.
“In fact the ‘in principle permission’, issued by the Tourism department, Government of Goa, also puts this condition very clearly on paper which has been accepted in writing by Sunburn, copy attached,” it says.
Sunburn appreciated and thanked all its fans and supporters for all the support and love over 14 years, including the response to the announcement for the Dec 2020 Goa event, it wishes to reassure everyone that the event will happen only if the Covid19 situation is stable and the authorities believe it’s safe to do the event.
As recently voiced by the Deputy Chief Minister Goa Tourism, Manohar Ajgaonkar, “Revenue Generation has been at the slowest pace in the state of Goa, and small as well as big business along the coastal belts and in interior areas are almost dead. If these big events (read EDM festivals) are held then we can expect a restart of business activities, which will help generate revenue for the Government.”
“Sunburn has anyway planned the December 2020 event following all the world best practices and the MHA unlock 5.0 guidelines, with full social distancing and entry and exit protocols mentioned below. Usually an event like Sunburn Goa takes over a year of planning and work, hence the application is done in the month of January for that years December Event,” the company said.
The organisers said the International and Domestic artist blocked to ensure they are available for Sunburn, as those dates there is huge demands for such artist globally.
“The Early bird tickets are announced and launched in the month of May. Again as people need time to plan travel and stay. Also the entire permission process also involves SLPC presentation and then seeking NOC’s from every concerned department, which requires time,” it said.
Percept said the most of the planning in terms of on ground production planning, artist booking, and permission process is done by the month of October for December event.
“But this time we have taken this up only couple of months before the event keeping the situation in consideration. As for the size and scale of sunburn Goa 2020 and measures being taken,” they said.
