PANAJI: Panaji Police have registered a case against a 71-year-old man for allegedly attacking his son-in-law with a pair of scissors and issuing death threats following an altercation near Axis Bank at Caranzalem, Taleigao.
According to the complaint lodged by Khushdil Shaikh (28), a tailor and resident of Taleigao, the incident occurred at around 4.30 pm on July 6 near a shop close to Axis Bank, Caranzalem.
Police said the accused, identified as Ramzan Ali Edreshi, a native of Uttar Pradesh currently residing in Taleigao and the complainant’s father-in-law, allegedly abused the complainant in filthy language before assaulting him with a sharp pair of scissors, causing grievous injuries to his left palm. The accused also allegedly threatened to kill the complainant if he returned to his shop.
Based on the complaint, Panaji Police registered Crime No. 115/2026 under Sections 118(2), 351(2) and 352 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023.
Further investigation is being carried out by PSI Rohan Madgaonkar.
