PANAJI: Tensions over alleged derogatory remarks against Saint Francis Xavier escalated further on Monday, with a group of residents from Taleigao lodging a formal complaint at the Panjim Police Station against Gautam Khattar, founder of Sanatan Mahasangh.
In their complaint, the residents have urged police to register a First Information Report under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, alleging that the remarks made by Khattar had hurt religious sentiments and disturbed communal harmony.
The complainants also pointed to Khattar’s presence at a recent event in Vasco linked to Parshuram Jayanti, claiming that the statements made during the gathering triggered widespread outrage and tension.
