CANACONA: Marking his birthday, Minister and Canacona MLA Ramesh Tawadkar on Monday handed over the key to the 75th Shram Dham house to Shobha Pagi, a homeless woman from Welwada-Poinguinim.
Pagi had been left without a home after a jackfruit tree destroyed her house in May last year. The new house was constructed by the Balram Charitable Foundation under Tawadkar’s Shram Dham initiative and completed in about one-and-a-half months.
Later, birthday celebrations were held at Ravindra Bhavan, Canacona, in the presence of Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant, BJP Goa President Damodar Naik, Speaker Ganesh Gaonkar and other leaders. Speaking at the event, Sawant praised Tawadkar’s social initiatives, particularly the Shram Dham project, for helping the needy.
Tawadkar also announced plans to launch the construction of 100 Shram Dham houses across Goa in a single day, with volunteers aiming to complete all the houses within 100 days.
